Flamenco Universal Presents: Flamenco Open Mic
Friday, Aug. 22, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
The North Bay flamenco community gathered for an opportunity for students and flamenco aficionados to perform in a relaxed, intimate stage setting. Everyone's participation was encouraged.
The event was free and open to the public. Flamenco Universal matched performers with musicians and/or dancers as needed.
Costumes and dance shoes were available for sale at the event. Ample parking was available in the lot at the rear of the building and practice space was available to rent.
Beginning Cajon Workshop with Rami Ziadeh
Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 6-8 p.m.
Born in Jordan, Rami began studying Dumbeck at the age of 3 and by the age of 10, was performing live with Middle Eastern dance groups. Rami plays percussion with a unique style that combines Middle Eastern finger techniques with a variety of traditional grooves.
Cante Workshop por Tangos with Kati Mejia
Sunday, March 9, 2008, 2-4 p.m.
This workshop focused on the palo of Flamenco tangos. Participants learned several tangos and coletias for tangos as well as how to begin and end tangos cante with guitar and dance choreography.
Beginning Cajon Workshop with Rami Ziadeh

Bay Area performer Patricia Inez "La Rubia" will be the featured guest at Flamenco Universal's fifth Flamenco Stage performance. Joining Patricia will be musician Manolo Vargas, a native of Sevilla, Spain, who has toured Europe with flamenco artists La Tati, Matilde Coral, Remedios Amaya and others. Dancer and singer Christina "La Romita" will also perform, along with singer Jaime del Rio and guitarists Mark Taylor and Paul Mousavi.

Guitarists, singers and dancers are invited to come perform in a casual, supportive environment. Flooring and sound equipment provided. There will also be open time for sevillanas dancing and impromptu performances. Non-performers are encouraged to come cheer and enjoy! We hope to make Flamenco Open Mic a regular monthly event. Bring your friends and help us make it a success! No cover charge.

Renowned East Bay performers Alicia and Roberto Zamora and their students will be the featured guests at Flamenco Universal's fourth Flamenco Stage performance.
Singer Roberto Zamora and dancer Alicia Zamora have been immersed in flamenco for more than 20 years. They have been featured artists with Rosa Montoya's Bailes Flamencos and Raquel Lopez' El Cuadro Flamenco. Roberto frequently performs with Yaelisa's Caminos Flamencos and La Monica's Arte Y Compas in San Francisco. Dancer Teresa "La Filigrana" and guitarist Mark Taylor, both professional artists in Sonoma County, will also be featured on the program, along with aspiring artists from around the Bay Area.

Flamenco Universal, in cooperation with California State Parks,
Silverado District, will present its third Flamenco Stage performance in the gardens of the historic
Vallejo Home, in downtown Sonoma.
Dancer Teresa "La Filigrana," guitarists Mark Taylor and James McColl
"El Libre," and singers Azriel Goldschmidt "El Moreno" and la Romita,
well-known professional Bay Area artists, will join with guitarist David
Fitzsimmons; dancers Juliana, Eva Antonia, Barbara del Sol, Liza
Bortolotto, Joelle Gonçalves, Irene Sohm, Ana Maria and Lourdes del
Carmen; and singers La Vainilla, Micaela, and Elena Teresa for a varied
performance of flamenco and traditional Spanish music and dance.
Ticket prices are $14 in advance, or $16 at the gate. Seating is limited, so advance purchase is recommended.

Flamenco Stage, presented by Flamenco Universal, is an informal flamenco music and dance performance in a café setting.
The May 12 event will feature Sonoma County professional artists Mark Taylor, Jaime del Rio, and La Linda, along with local dancers Sandra Gabas, La Eva, Sara Maria, Carolina Luisa and singer La Vainilla.
Tickets cost $14 for general admission and $10 for children 12 and under. Seating is limited so advance purchase is suggested.
Aire Flamenco

In cooperation with the Healdsburg Arts Council, Flamenco Arts presents local favorites Aire Flamenco in an evening of fiery flamenco song, dance, guitar, and percussion. The performance will feature dancers Fibi and La Linda, percussionist Rami Ziadeh and Aire Flamenco co-founders Jaime Del Rio and Mark Taylor, all of whom reside in Sonoma County. Helping them to heat up the stage will be dancer Aldo Ruiz of San Francisco.
A local favorite, Aire Flamenco has performed at venues around Sonoma County for more than 11 years. Aire Flamenco has performed at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival, in free performances at the Healdsburg Plaza as part of the Healdsburg Summer Concert in the Park series, and in various other venues in the Bay area, Santa Cruz and New Mexico.

Flamenco Universal will present its first Flamenco Stage event Saturday, Feb. 2, at Aram's Café, 131 Kentucky Street, in Petaluma, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Flamenco Stage, presented by Flamenco Universal, is an informal flamenco music and dance performance in a café setting. In 2002 Flamenco Universal aims to establish Flamenco Stage as a regular event in the North Bay.
The Feb. 2 Flamenco Stage includes dinner before the show. Dinner service begins at 5:30 p.m. and continues until the performance starts at 7 p.m.
Featured performers for the event include guitarist James McColl "El Libre" and singer "La Vainilla" and her sister, dancer Eva Antonia. Also performing are guitarist Eric Monrad, singer Elena Teresa, and dancers Juana Rey David, Juliana, Barbara del Sol, Liz "La Rubia" and a surprise guest.
Ticket prices include dinner as well as admission to the show, and are $25, or $22 for the vegetarian menu. Both options include Caesar salad and a philo pastry dessert. Beverages and gratuity are not included.
